Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

 

Advanced Cardiac Life Support

The AHA’s ACLS course trains participants to promptly recognize several life-threatening emergencies, give high-quality chest compressions, deliver appropriate ventilations and provide early use of an AED. Reflects science and education from the American Heart Association Guidelines Update for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC). It teaches EKG Rhythm recognition and treatment, medications, advanced airway management, and team dynamics. 

Who should take this course?

The AHA’s ACLS Course is designed for healthcare professionals who need advanced cardiovascular life support skills in a wide variety of in-facility and prehospital settings.

What does this course teach?

  • Reviews High-quality CPR for adults
  • The AHA algorithms for tachyarrhythmias, bradyarrhythmias, ventricular fibrillation, pulseless ventricular tachycardia, Pulseless Electrical Activity, and asystole. 
  • Important early use of an AED in defribillation in a team code situation. 
  • Airway management with NPA, OPA, and Endotracheal Tubes. 
  • Importance of teams in multi-rescuer resuscitation and performance as an effective team member during multi-rescuer CPR
  • Post Cardiac Arrest protocol. 

Is AHA ACLS the right course for me?

BLS is geared towards prehospital providers, like EMTs, paramedics, fire fighters, and in-facility hospital providers. Upon successful completion of the course, students receive a course completion card, valid for two years. Please contact your employer to ensure that you are selecting the correct course.

This course is expected to take about 4 hours to complete the course.

HEARTCODE ACLS (BLENDED LEARNING)

 

HEARTCODE ACLS ( Must Complete Online Training Prior to coming to the class at Elearning.Heart.org)

 Blended Learning (https://shopcpr.heart.org/heartcode-acls), followed by Hands On Skills Session. Heartcode ACLS uses a variety of eLearning assets such as dramatizations, eSimulations, animations, self-directed learning, and interactive activities to teach students ACLS knowledge and skills.

HeartCode ACLS is the AHA’s ACLS blended learning delivery method. Blended learning is a combination of eLearning, in which a student completes part of the course in a self-directed manner, followed by a hands-on skills session.
